On Coaching and Business

Famous coaches of Hollywood lore.
Last week I had the distinct privilege (and pleasure) of participating in Professor Ruby Ortiz'  Business Coaching class at Florida International University here in Miami.

It was 3 full days of immersion in all things coaching and I'd be hugely remiss if I didn't share some of the great insights gleaned from that experience.

In order to do justice to the material, though, I've decided to break it down into the main components and blog about each.

So in the next few days, I'll be blogging about coaching and I hope you'll stay tuned.

This is a hot topic for executives and managers everywhere because at the end of the day they're the ones charged with leading people and reaching the specific objectives set forth by their organizations.

In this world of hyper-competitive markets, companies who get the most from their people will triumph. Companies stuck in the paradigms of the 20th century's industrial mindset will be left behind.

No doubt.

The ground we stand on is shifting dramatically in a tectonic movement that hasn't yet settled. We're still in the gap and standing on the bridge between the old ways of doing things and a radical new opportunity for full-fledged, authentic leadership.

Coaching is part of the new formula for success. That's because a coach is a creator of champions. She pushes. She pulls. She inspires. She communicates.

A coach helps his team execute a shared vision. He takes his team on a journey to victory.
