A Platform for Perfect Moments

I'm reading Chasing Daylight by Gene O'Kelly, former CEO of KPMG.

In 2005 O'Kelly was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. Several months later he died at 53. Luckily for all of us he left us an enduring message.

In his book he talks about a desire to create
Perfect Moments and the desire to embrace spontenaity. I can't help but connect the dots and point out that he's really talking about the importance of connection and emotional work. That's the REAL work.

You may think that the most important thing you'll do today is to robotically go through your to do list. Or worse yet, you may not even have a to do list,  but you know you have to complete that report your boss has been asking for or reconcile the sales numbers reported on  multiple spreadsheets.

But that's not the most important work you'll do today.

Today you have a chance to connect with your family, your coworkers, your customers or your boss. We have a chance to make a difference in peoples lives through our interactions with them. Even small gestures can have a BIG impact.

No matter where you are in the world or what your station is, you have a platform from which you can make a difference.

Let's heed Gene O'Kelly's advice. Let's make today count.

Happy St. Patricks Day!
